In October 2002, Paltrow met Chris Martin of the British rock group Coldplay backstage at a gig just three weeks after the death of her father Bruce Paltrow. They married on December 5, 2003 in a ceremony at a hotel in Southern California. On 14 May 2004, the couple had their first child, a girl named Apple Blythe Alison Martin. Her second child, a boy named Moses Bruce Anthony Martin, was born on 8 April 2006, in New York City’s Mount Sinai Hospital.
