Scarlett Johansson born in New York City, United States on November 22, 1984. She is an actress and American singer. Her father, Karsten Johansson, is a Danish-born architect. Her mother, Melanie Sloan, a producer, comes from an Ashkenazi Jewish family from the Bronx. Scarlett Johansson has an older sister, Vanessa, who is an actress; an older brother, Adrian; a twin brother, Hunter (who appeared with her in the film Manny & Lo); and an older half-brother, Christian, from her father’s first marriage.

Scarlett Johansson began her acting career in 1994 as “Laura Nelson” in North America (1994). In 1998, the acclaimed film The Horse Whisperer (1998), Johansson critical acclaim and recognition worldwide. Following the success of the film, played in many other films including the acclaimed cult film Ghost World (2001), then the hit Lost in Translation (2003) with Bill Murray in which again surprised by the criticism. Later, she appeared in Girl with a Pearl Earring (2003).

In 2003 Scarlett Johansson was nominated for two Golden Globes, one for drama (Girl with a Pearl Earring (2003)) and one for comedy (Lost in Translation (2003)). She left the Mission: Impossible III (2006), due to scheduling conflicts. Her next role was in the movie The Island (2005) alongside Ewan McGregor which earned her critical comments of U.S. weak.

A role in the Broadway revival of the decade from 2010 to Arthur Miller’s View from the Bridge gave some of her best reviews for her performance, and received a Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play. On May 20, 2008, She debuted as a singer on her debut album, Anywhere I Lay My Head, which included covers of songs by Tom Waits. Her second album, Break Up, Pete Yorn, was published in September 2009.
